Scuba Diving Safety

Safety is a top priority in Scuba diving

Here are some Scuba safety guides in order for you to maximize your Scuba experience without compromising the fun and excitement

Scuba diving is a safe sport. But safety precautions are very much essential considering that you are meters deep underwater. The following are measures to be done for a safe and enjoyable scuba dive.

* Proper training and certification – Having proper training is very essential before starting Scuba diving. Basics are learned during the introductory course. Never go deeper beyond the set limitations by the Dive Master or by the rules.
* Never hold your breath – Holding your breath may lead to lung injuries brought by the pressure underwater. Just breath as you normally do.
* Never dive alone – Always make sure to bring a buddy as you dive. This is to ensure safety and emergency precautions. It would be best to have your Dive Master as your buddy during the dive.
* Always check your equipment – Any malfunctions in your equipments may lead to disastrous cases. Equipments have to be regularly serviced for optimal functioning. Checking your equipment is especially important when renting. Some resorts may not be very articulate when it comes to equipment security.
* Relax and enjoy – Being relaxed and comfortable underwater is key to a successful dive. If something happens, stop, breathe, think and act. Do not panic and rush to the surface. But observing this Scuba diving safety rule could be key to a safe dive.
* Ascend and descend slowly and with control – Descending rids off the nitrogen in your body. Descending or ascending quickly may lead to decompression sickness. Never descend more than 30 feet per minute and always have a safety stop every 15 feet or at least 3 minutes.
* Always consider your health status – People with circulatory or respiratory complications are not advised to scuba dive due to the health risks involving underwater pressure.
