The Holy Spirit has been given to us to enable us
to believe we have a close and special relationship
with God. The reason God gave the Holy Spirit is to
convict you of righteousness. He convicts the world
of sin of unbelief in Him. He convicts the devil of
Judgement.(John 16:8-11) The usual interpretation of
the function of the Holy Spirit is a voice of a fault-
finder constantly catching you when you do wrong. The
exact opposite is true.
When you fall, the Holy Spirit does not see it. When
you do right, He sees it. When you study the heroes
of faith, you will find that all of them failed in
some way or another. However, in Hebrews Chapter 11,
during the enumeration of their exploits, no mention
was made of their sins confirming that the Holy Spirit
remembers their sins no more. – By faith Abraham did
this and that, By faith Samson and David did this that
and that. And yet Samson’s and David’s sins were not
mentioned. Do you know why?
The Holy Spirit comes to convict you of righteousness,
to always catch you when you do right and put it before
God and He looks at your sins no more. What a wonderful
friend to have. Always catching me doing right and not
catching me doing wrong.
The Holy Spirit is usually described as very fragile,
easily grieved and goes away at any irreverent thought
or action. Actually, the Holy Spirit is not only described
as a gentle dove but is also described liked a fire,a hammer, a rushing wind.(Jeremiah 23:29,Acts 2:2)
It is traditionally taught that to get into the
prescence of the Holy Spirit you have to fast and to pray
for long periods of time, to show God your hunger in order
to qualify.
On the contrary, the Bible describes the Holy
Spirit going away reluctantly in the Old Testament and
coming rapidly like a rushing wind in the New Testament.
(Acts 2:1-2). The Holy Spirit will come rushing to bless
you, rushing to heal you, rushing to prosper you, rushing
to make you whole. That’s the Holy Spirit.
Jesus says that He will send you the Holy Spirit who will abide in you forever. How long is forever? Is it until your next sin? No! Forever is forever, eternally. That is why the Holy Spirit can be grieved. Do you grieve for your enemies? Certainly not. Do you grieve for your loved ones? YES . Only love can be grieved. If the Holy Spirit can leave you the moment you sin, there is no need for Him to grieve. It is because He loves you and staying with you that He can be grieved. He will never leave you, even if you sin.Jesus said the Holy Spirit will abide with you forever.(John 14:16)
The Holy Spirit is there as the warm friendly voice always telling you the way out.Always reminding you who you are in Christ. Always encouraging you. Never discouraging you.He remembers your sins no more. God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love that you do for Him.(Hebrews 6:10) Everything you do for Him, He remembers.Every wrong thing, He forgets. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you about righteousness. It will go beyond what man can teach you.
When you walk with the Holy Spirit, you must believe He is your friend and He listens to you. Why don`t you renew your frienship with the Holy Spirit. He is that warm friendly voice. Every time you hear an encouraging word on the inside, that’s the Holy Spirit. Everytime you hear a reminder you are righteous, that’s the Holy spirit. Realize that He is the best friend that you can have. He will give you secrets about your Business. He will tell you secrets about your Marriage. He will tell you secrets. He will find everything in God’s heart that you don’t know and He will tell you secrets about God’s heart to let you know.
